Away Resorts is a leading UK holiday park operator. Each of its parks have extensive grounds, facilities, full entertainment and activity programmes. Away Resorts see technology as a way to help them deliver exceptional customer experiences to their guests in a complex and challenging environment. Each park has its own identity and individual appeal.
Following a process of strategy workshops, customer journey mapping and prototyping we designed in partnership with Away Resorts a ‘park buddy’ app for guests to make the most of their stay and owners to maximise their investment.
The iOS and Android app enables guests to find out what’s on, book and manage activities, order food and drinks, and explore the park using a bespoke interactive map.
A key commercial driver was to consider the needs and perspectives of owners.
Owners can view their accounts, make payments, submit subletting dates, and order essentials such as gas bottles and electrical safety tests, making it easier to manage their investment and maximise rentals.
Built and hosted in Microsoft technologies, the solution required multiple platform & API integrations. Supported by SMS & notifications, the app provides a new communications channel to promote offers and keep guests updated before, during, and after their stay.

THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to unify the resorts under a consistent digital customer experience while providing park-specific functionality, booking features, and solving business complexities through the integration of technology.
THE OUTCOME
We delivered an industry-first, iOS and Android app with complex integrations and a flexible CMS which simplifies development, reduces ongoing maintenance costs, and delivers a seamless user experience for their guests.
The interactive park map allows guests to find points of interest and their accommodation while on site. By selecting a facility (or their lodge!) from the drop down list, the map will plot the best route from the user’s current location.
